I need more... How to figure out what your wellbeing is really asking for.

What are you really craving?

Welcome to this weeks edition of Wellness Goals Weekly, your weekly dose of wellness inspiration.

The topic for this week’s blog came to me after one particularly long day this weekend, when I found myself standing in the kitchen, staring into the fridge, thinking, “I just need more…” I wasn’t sure what, exactly. Was it more rest, more space to breathe, more fun, or even just more chocolate? It was that restless, slightly empty feeling I’m sure many of us know. And the more I thought about it, the more I realised how common this theme is, both for me and for so many of the women I work with.

Have you ever had that feeling? That nagging thought at the end of a long day that just says, “I need more..." It’s often vague. Is it more sleep? More fun? More help? More time?

Instead of seeing this feeling as a negative, what if we used it as a compass? A way to figure out what our well-being is truly asking for. Often, that feeling is a signpost, pointing us towards what we need to feel balanced and fulfilled.

What Are You Really Craving?

The first step is to get specific. When that feeling of "I need more" pops up, take a moment to gently question what is underneath it.

  •  When you say, “I need more energy,” could it really be about needing more rest?
  •  When you think, “I need more time,” is it actually about needing more space in your schedule and less rushing around?
  •  When you feel you need more motivation, could it be that you actually need more joy or pleasure in your routine?

That little word “more" can point towards a deeper need. Common things we crave include:

  •  More Rest: Not just sleep, but genuine downtime for your brain and body.
  •  More Connection: Meaningful conversation, a hug, or just feeling seen.
  •  More Movement: Not a punishing workout, but the simple joy of moving your body.
  •  More Stillness: A few moments of quiet without any demands on your time.
  •  More Nourishment: Not just food, but whatever it is that truly feeds your soul.

To help you gain even clearer insight, you may find it useful to revisit the Wellness Wheel exercise from a blog post I shared last year. It’s a brilliant tool for getting a visual snapshot of where you are right now and identifying which areas of your life are calling for more attention. You can click here to read it.

A Simple Action Plan: Finding Your ‘More' This Week

This is not about adding another huge task to your to-do list. Let’s try a simple experiment.

  1.  Identify Your ‘More’: Look at the list above and pick just ONE thing that resonates most strongly with you right now. What are you truly needing more of?
  2.  Schedule a ‘More' Moment: Find one ten-minute slot in your week to intentionally give that one thing to yourself.

For example:

  •  If you need more rest, schedule a ten-minute break to lie on your bed and do nothing. No phone, no television, just quiet.
  •  If you need more connection, send a text to a friend to arrange a quick phone call, just to catch up properly.
  •  If you need more movement, put on one of your favourite songs and have a dance in the kitchen while the kettle boils.

That feeling of needing "more" is not a sign of failure. It is a helpful and healthy signal from your body and mind, pointing you towards what you need to thrive. Listening to that inner voice is a powerful act of self-care.

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead.

Cheering you on to wellness success,

Katie x
