This weekend, we witnessed something extraordinary. England’s women’s football team, the Lionesses, clinched the European Championship, showcasing resilience, determination, and teamwork in their historic back-to-back European Championship win.

The Lionesses’ triumph was not just about skill—it was about mindset, grit, and energy.

Today, I’m drawing from their lessons to help you unlock your own ‘Lioness Energy’ and use it to achieve your wellness goals. This energy, the drive to stay focused, persistent, and adaptive, is a key element in reaching your wellness aspirations.  

What is Lioness Energy?  

Lioness Energy is the drive to stay focused, persistent, and adaptive, no matter the challenges you face. The Lionesses didn’t reach the top by sheer talent alone; they faced setbacks, intense scrutiny, and relentless competition. Yet, they pushed through, adjusted their strategies, and ultimately triumphed.  

Here are three powerful strategies we can take from the Lionesses’ success and apply to our wellness journeys. These strategies, when implemented, can significantly impact your physical fitness, emotional balance, or personal growth in other areas.  

1. Play the Long Game  

The Lionesses didn’t build their championship-winning team overnight. They showed up day after day, trusting the process and putting in the work even when results weren’t immediate.  

Your takeaway:  

  •  Set small, consistent steps toward your big goals.  
  •  Celebrate progress, no matter how small. Whether it’s an extra glass of water, an extra few steps, or simply showing up.  

2. Adapt in the Face of Challenges  

Throughout the tournament, the Lionesses faced fierce opponents and moments that could have shaken their confidence. But instead of panicking, they adjusted, changing tactics to meet the demands of the game. This adaptability is a key trait of resilience.

  •  When life throws a curveball, ask yourself what adjustments you can make to stay on track.

These simple steps are your toolkit to apply the lessons from the Lionesses to your own wellness journey.

  1.  Set One Small Goal for the Week: Commit to, and focus on, just one actionable step that brings you closer to your bigger vision.  
  2.  Track and Adapt: Check in midweek. Are things going to plan? If not, tweak your approach.  
  3.  Celebrate Your Wins: Big or small, acknowledge every victory. Your success is built on progress, not perfection.

You don’t need a stadium of fans to cheer you on (though wouldn’t that be amazing?). You already have what it takes to succeed within you; summon your Lioness Energy and go after it.
