What is Pilates?

Combining elements of yoga, ballet, and strength training, Pilates utilises focused breathing patterns while executing controlled movements to improve flexibility, strength, mobility and body awareness. Hi! I'm Katie, wife of Sean and Mum of two amazing Daughters.
I invite you to our unique space, located in Timperley, South Manchester, where the power of Pilates intertwines with the essence of holistic wellness.

I'm Level 3 Mat Pilates Qualified, but what really sets me apart is my holistic approach to wellness. You see, I'm also a mindset coach, a hypnotherapist, and an accredited EFT practitioner. Plus, I'm the co-owner of Sean Salinger Fitness, where we believe in nurturing the body and the mind.

My personal journey into the world of Pilates and holistic wellness was born out of necessity. It was a quest to regain my balance and strength after undergoing surgery to remove a brain tumour several years ago. This experience ignited a passion and belief that true health is more than physical strength. It's about finding balance, inner calm, and, most importantly, being kind to ourselves—a lesson we women often forget.

Our next 'New to Pilates' 6-week course starts on May 7th at 9:15am (arrive at 9am) Our Pilates classes are in the upstairs Wellness studio at Unit 11, Park Road Estate, Park Road, Timperley WA14 5QH. We are just above Sean Salinger Fitness.

If you're new to Pilates, having some concerns is natural. But don't worry, I've got you covered!

  • Worried about Flexibility? You don't need to be flexible to start Pilates. The exercises are designed to help improve your flexibility over time.
  • Concerned about your Fitness Level? Pilates is for everyone, regardless of fitness level. I offer modifications for each exercise to suit your individual needs.
  • Afraid You Won't Keep Up? Don't be! Our classes are small, and as your instructor, I take the time to ensure everyone is comfortable with the movements, offering adaptations and progressions that match your ability and body.
  • Nervous about Getting Started? Remember, every expert was once a beginner. It's okay to not make every move perfect the first time. I'm here to guide you.
  • Worried about Injury? Pilates is a low-impact workout, making it safe for most people. However, if you have specific health concerns, please message me, and we can chat. As with any physical activity, please consult your doctor before starting any new exercise regimen.
  • Unsure about Equipment? No worries! All necessary equipment is provided at our studio. You only need to bring a Pilates Mat and your water bottle. As your Pilates instructor, I will guide you on correctly using all equipment in our Pilates studio.
